Scope Note:

This collection contains a significant proportion of the yearbooks produced by the students of Moravian College (MC) and its precursors, Moravian Seminary and College for Women (MS/MCW) and Moravian College and Theological Seminary (MC/MTS), from 1910 until the present. The names and formats of these yearbooks have changed throughout this period, and they have not always appeared on an annual basis. Yet, notwithstanding their individuality, they share many commonalities, including photographs of students, faculty, and administrators; teams and organizations; and the campus and its myriad activities. The amount of text on their pages, including biographical data, varies widely, but, in general, the older the yearbook the wordier it is. Like all yearbooks, these attempt to capture the essence of student life in words and pictures, creating a record of the past that is broader though not necessarily deeper than most. It should be noted that with the advent of coeducation in 1954 under the aegis of a single institution, The Benigna became the yearbook for both men and women. (The Benigna honors Countess Benigna Von Zinzendorf, founder of Moravian College’s earliest incarnation, a school for girls, in 1742.)
