Art History Slide/Digital Image Library -
The Slide Library, in the Art Office, on South Campus, contains a
collection of approximately 60,000 slides. The slides, which are computer-catalogued, may be looked up by artist, chronologically, by medium, or by location (museum, etc.). Slides range from prehistoric and ancient art
and architecture to contemporary painting, prints and drawings, sculpture, architecture, and photography. Slides are available for lending to Moravian College students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the general public. Community groups and organizations such as the Phoebe Home for Comprehensive Adult Care, Allentown; Adult Education, Northampton Community College; and Art History Study Group, A.A.U.W. are regular users of the slide library.
As we convert art history presentations to digital images, sections of the slide library are being scanned and placed on the Moravian network for use by students, faculty and staff. With sufficient notice, art history slides not currently ready on the network may be scanned by the art office assistants.
