Research Interests

Ecological restoration; Bioremediation of zinc-contaminated sites; plant adaptations and species recovery inventories; Climate change impacts on eastern Pennsylvanian habitats and species (phenology); Biochemical adaptations of photosynthetic organisms to environmental stress; Biochemistry of photorespiration in the unicellular eukaryotic alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii; Phylogenetic relationships between α-hydroxy acid metabolizing enzymes; The social impact of science and technology; and ethical considerations associated with science, technology, and the environment.
