James B. Mitchell, Jr.

James B. Mitchell is a generalist with an intense love of biology. Recently he has focused his attention on marine biology, mammals, and human evolution. He has studied at Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands, the Marine Biology Lab at Woods Hole, the Bermuda Biological Station, the University of San Diego, Arizona State University, the State University of New York, Alaska, and Iceland. He has received grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health to support these endeavors.
In the summer of 2001 he was one of 14 participants in an interdisciplanary program at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
Dr. Mitchell has served as a consultant at Rocky Mountain National Park. In 1997 he received the Golden Apple Award for superior teaching.
Other interests include hiking, photography, sports, literature, and music.
