How can you help the Career Center?

Be a Career Center Liaison!

With a minimal time commitment you can have a large impact on the hands-on learning and career opportunities current students will be afforded. Liaisons work with the Career Center to foster a close working relationship between your place of business and Moravian College.

The goal of this program is to expand the scope of access to job information beyond what is readily available to the public though corporate websites. Liaisons receive submitted resumes directly by a set deadline, to be determined by the liaison based on their personal schedule and the hiring schedule, they review resumes and share them directly with their Human Resources office, ensuring that Moravian College students' and alumni's resumes are read and considered in the hiring process.

The Career Center will contact Liaisons directly no more than three times a year via email to remind them about sending information for internships and full-time positions as available. If you are willing to serve as a Career Center Liaison for your organization, please register at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LiaisonProgramRegistrationForm

Be a Mentor!

The Career Center needs your help!
Many of our students and alumni would benefit from networking with you. Our students are seeking alumni mentors to help launch their careers. By being a mentor, you can provide valuable insights to current students and other alumni regarding your work experience and career path. You can make an impact on students and alumni with relative ease and you control it all. You decide on how people should contact you, what they should contact you about and even how they should contact you. In other words, you will not be bombarded with unwanted requests. Additionally, if your place of employment is hiring interns or full-time employees, you can make that information available to students and alumni. Fill out the Alumni Career Advising Program (ACAP) Form if you wish to be a mentor to students and other alumni.

Be a Career Panelist!

Career panels are a great way to expose the student body to your organization and your career field. At Moravian College, we have held successful career panels that have helped employers generate student interest in their organizations. We recently conducted panel programs focusing on Creative Arts, Science and Technology, Law, Business, Education and Medical Careers. Some recent participants included representatives from Cintas, Aldi Foods, various law offices, BrucieFreedmanAssociates, Johnson and Johnson and various school districts.

Host a Student Externship!

Externships are designed to allow students observational experiences (1-3 days) with a professional at their place of work, experiencing a “day in the life” in the host’s career. Externs can “shadow” individuals at work, take tours of the work place and job sites, and work on small projects for the company. These experiences will help the students gain an understanding of what the daily responsibilities include in the careers of professionals.

Externships take place over winter break. If you are interested in learning more about hosting one or a group of students, please contact us via email at thecareercenter@moravian.edu.
