How do I change my Blackboard password?

Changing your password can prevent others from malicious entry into your courses as you. After you successfully log-in to Blackboard it is advisable to change the password. The best combination is alphanumeric (ex. 44tt44).

Note: This procedure will only change your Blackboard password, not your network/e-mail login password.

Follow the steps below to change your password.

  • Login to Blackboard.
  • Click on Tools button located on the left.
  • Click on Personal Information.
  • Click Change Password.
  • Enter your new password and confirm the new password.
  • Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.
  • You can use the new password the next time you log in to Blackboard.

There is no limit on the length of passwords; a password must include at least one nonspace character.

Special characters are permitted and passwords are case-sensitive.

Special characters include % & # < > = +

Blackboard recommends the following to ensure system security:

Passwords are at least eight characters long
Passwords should not include proper names or words related to pop culture
Passwords should not include personal information, such as phone numbers
Passwords should be changed every 6 months

Note:
