The Best Poem -- Honorable Mention

Emily Ralph, “Danny”

dedicated to children with autism

He smiles.
Does he see angels dance
along the floor?
His hair stands on end--lightning
streaking from his heart to the sky.

Like lava heated by pent-up pressure,
it is too precious for human hands,
a communication only God can grasp.

In his private world,
solitary, oblivious,

he hums.
