Track III: Writing

For students who wish to study and practice writing in a variety of contexts: graduate school, professional writing, creative writing, journalism, or the teaching of writing.

A major portfolio is also required second semester of your junior year. The writing advisor is Joel Wingard.

The English Core courses:

  • English 220
  • English 221
  • One course numbered 210 or above covering a major literary period:
    • British (English 351, 352, or 354)
    • American (English 340, 341, or 342)
  • One course numbered 210 or above covering a genre:
    • Drama (English 232, 233, 234, 360, or 361)
    • Fiction (English 343 or 353)
    • Poetry (English 320)

Track III Requirements:

  • English 211 or 212
  • Four writing courses selected in consultation with the advisor.
  • English 375
  • A portfolio of the student's work is submitted for review by February of the junior year.
