An Independent study is an opportunity for undergraduate research. It allows students to explore a topic one-on-one with a professor by reading literature pertinent to a selected topic. The literature should consist of primary and secondary sources that can serve as the basis for the student’s research paper. In most cases the course culminates a research paper of 20 to 25 pages based on primary and secondary sources.
