MORAVIAN COLLEGE's Department of Campus Safety has an immediate opening for a full-time Police Officer. Must be Act 120 certified. regular schedule 7 days on 3 days off with every other weekend off. The Police Officer is charged with the security of life, limb, property, and equipment with the institution and the enforcement of all institution rules, regulations, and State and Federal laws.

CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff / Non-exempt

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervised by the Director of Campus Safety/Chief of Police, or in his her absence via the chain of command.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the rules and regulations of Moravian College.
  2. Provides armed patrol of the campus by vehicle and on foot.
  3. Investigate reports of criminal activity.
  4. Provide for the security of all campus buildings and property by assisting in the locking of buildings and reporting those circumstances that present any danger to college property, students, or employees.
  5. Direct traffic and investigate motor vehicle accidents.
  6. Provide a variety of services including but not limited to: medical transports, motorist assists, money escorts, lock/unlock requests and accident and criminal investigations.
  7. Check for and report all suspicious activity, equipment malfunction, and other irregularities.
  8. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director/Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Corporal or O.I.C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of an Associates Degree or prior experience as a campus police officer or as a community-based police officer. Must have Act 120 Certification. The position demands excellent organizational skills as well as superior interpersonal skills (verbal and written), and an ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the College and Seminary including students, staff and faculty, in addition to the general public. Must submit to a background check. Must be in excellent physical condition to respond to emergencies and handle criminal incidents in accordance with the rules of Campus Safety. Must be able to work all shifts and overtime as necessary.
