work dayshift (7 am - 3 pm) or middle shift (3pm - 11 pm) on week-ends (Saturday and Sunday).

by the Director of Campus Safety/Chief of Police, Office Manager and
Police Officers on duty.

POSITION
SUMMARY:
The Part-time Police Dispatcher is responsible for receiving calls placed
to the Department of Campus Safety and dispatching campus police officers
as needed. In addition, this individual is responsible for the maintenance
of logs and other necessary paperwork.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS AND REPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive incoming calls from campus personnel.
2. Complete pertinent data on incident memo for each call.
3. Obtain geographical location and dispatch police officer via 2-way
radio as needed.
4. Complete shift logs and other reports as needed.
5. Assist with the required data entry of parking ticket charges, uniform
crime reporting statistical data, incident card reports, and Cleary
Law records.
6. Assist with the creation of Moravian College student identification
cards and visitor passes as needed.
7. Maintain computer backup of Campus Police Criminal Incident Reports
as needed.
8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency and 2-3 years’
related work experience. Must understand the geographical locations
on campus and be able to communicate these locations to the appropriate
individuals. Previous use of a 2-way police radio is preferred but not
necessary. The position demands excellent organizational skills as well
as superior interpersonal skills (verbal and written), and an ability
to work with all constituencies of the College and Seminary including
students, staff and faculty, in addition to the general public. Computer
literacy as well as experience with Microsoft Office, particularly database
applications, word processing and spreadsheets is essential. Must be
able to maintain confidential information. Physical requirements include
sitting and telephone usage with occasional stretching to reach logbooks
in overhead shelves. Phone answering does not prevent standing, stretching,
or walking.
