Dedicated to saving lives through research and treatment, icddr,b addresses some of the most critical health concerns facing the world today, ranging from improving neonatal survival to HIV/AIDS. In collaboration with academic and research institutions throughout the world, icddr,b conducts research, training and extension activities, as well as programme-based activities, to develop and share knowledge for global lifesaving solutions. Community Service Opportunities
Two Faculty/Staff Participants Needed for Urban Service Experience: This Urban Service Experience service trip will involve travel to Newark, New Jersey over Spring Break to participate in the United Way of Northern New Jersey’s Alternative Spring Break program. During this service experience, participants will work directly with children at a variety of after-school program settings in the Boys and Girls Club network, and will also have an opportunity to participate in other indoor and outdoor service projects aimed at increasing the capacity of community-based agencies throughout Newark. Education is the key focus of this service experience. Faculty/staff participants will incur no cost for their participation, however, they will be responsible for participating in group trainings, student safety, reflection activities, and other responsibilities associated with leading a trip. Random Acts of Kindness Week
Students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by the Center for Leadership and Service in your spare time (any time...all day) to make bookmarks for elementary students in the Bethlehem Area School District. These bookmarks will promote reading and kindness. This program is sponsored by the Community Service Office. Questions? Students should contact Community Service to get involved in volunteer work in the community. Opportunities for students to volunteer at a food pantry, homeless shelter, local schools, and other community organizations are organized through the Center for Leadership and Service.
