The art of music through study and performance at
all levels for any student or member of the community is the mission
of the Music Department of Moravian College. The department aspires:
- to offer excellent, personalized degree programs
in music integrated with other courses addressing historic and
changing needs; provide diverse credit instruction, playing,
and singing for students who major in other areas;
- to foster fulfilling musical encounters for the
community in a wide selection of private and group instruction,
performance with large and chamber ensembles, in addition to
courses, lectures, and concerts;
- to schedule a full year's schedule of concerts
and recitals performed by students, faculty, and visiting artists.
- to enable all solo, chamber, and larger ensemble
participants to explore global music from the past. While students
cultivate the characteristics of amazing traditions, the department
vigorously introduces its clientele to newly-composed works
and frequently presents the latter in premiere performances.
