VOICE, CLASSICAL - specific audition requirements

 

Two Prepared Pieces

  • One Italian classical song sung in Italian from memory, from one of the following collections (or equivalent collection):
    • 24 Italian Songs and Arias (Shirmer/Hal Leonard)
    • 26 Italian Songs and Arias (Alfred Publishing)
    • 28 Italian Songs and Arias of the 17th and 18th Centuries (Shirmer/Hal Leonard)
  • An Art Song composed in English or another foreign language (good examples are listed below)
    • The First and Second Books of - Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Baritone/Bass - Solos (Shirmer/Hal Leonard)
    • British composers: John Dowland, Henry Purcell, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Roger Quilter, etc.; or American composers: Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Ned Rorem, etc.
