Dr. Gerencher teaches courses in geology, meteorology, astronomy, and science education. He is the coordinator of Moravian’s science education program and advisor for Moravian’s cooperative geology program with Lehigh University. He has taught in the General Education Program for Teachers (GEPT) of Temple University. He has constructed a seismograph system with an automatic computer readout for recording earthquake signals. Dr. Gerencher received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1972 and the Pennsylvania Science Supervisors Association Service Award in 1987.  He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, The Geological Society of America, and the National Science Teachers Association.  He is interested in science education, coal petrology, meteorite impact, astronomy, geostatistics, and seismology.
