| Dana
S. Dunn is currently Professor of Psychology and Director of the
Learning in Common (LinC) Curriculum at Moravian College.
He earned his PhD in experimental
social psychology from the University of Virginia, having graduated
previously with a BA in psychology from Carnegie Mellon University.
A Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA),
Dunn is active in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP
- APA Division 2). He will serve as President-Elect of STP in 2009
and be President of the Society in 2010. Dunn is a member of the
editorial boards of several journals and is a frequent speaker
at national and regional psychology conferences. Beginning in 2009,
he will be a member of the Program Committee for the National Institute
for the Teaching of Psychology (NIToP).
The author of over 85 articles, chapters, and book reviews, Dunn
writes about the teaching of psychology, rehabilitation psychology,
social psychology, and liberal education. Dunn is the author of
five books: Research Methods for
Social Psychology (2009), Psychology Applied to Modern Life: Adjustment
in the 21st Century (with Wayne Weiten, Margaret Lloyd, & Elizabeth
Hammer, 2009), A Short Guide to Writing about Psychology (2008), Statistics
and Data Analysis for the Behavioral Sciences (2001), and The Practical
Researcher (1999; a 2nd edition will appear in 2010).
He is also the editor of four “best practices in pedagogy” books: Teaching Critical
Thinking in Psychology: A Handbook of Best Practices (with
Jane Halonen & Randolph
Smith, 2008), Best Practices in Teaching Statistics and Research Methods
in the Behavioral Sciences (with Randolph Smith & Bernard
Beins, 2007), Best
Practices for Teaching Introduction to Psychology (with
Stephen Chew, 2006), and Measuring Up: Educational Assessment Challenges and Practices for Psychology (with
Chandra Mehrotra & Jane Halonen, 2004). Dunn is currently working
on several writing projects, including some new books.
At Moravian College, Dunn has held various leadership positions,
including serving as Chair of the Department of Psychology for
six years and Acting Chair of the Department of Philosophy for
three and one-half years. As current Chair of the LinC Curriculum,
Dunn oversees Moravian’s general education program. Dunn
and his family reside in Bethlehem, PA.
