Welcome
to the Religion Department.
The
program in religion is ecumenical and multifaceted. Biblical studies
that offer a critical and historical examination of the roots of
the Jewish and Christian traditions are complemented by offerings in
Christian theology, ethics, and history.
Visiting professors regularly offer courses in Jewish thought and experience.
Students also have the opportunity to study the religious traditions
of Asia and Native America, as well as to explore the interaction between
religion and the contemporary world.
A major in religion is a good focal point for a liberal education and
may also be used as a background for graduate or professional training
in the humanities, the social sciences, seminary and law school.
