Sex Offender Registry and Access to Related Information
The federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires institutions of higher education to issue a statement advising members of the campus community where they may obtain law-enforcement-agency information provided by a state concerning registered sex offenders. It also requires sex offenders already required to register in a state to provide notice to the state, as required under state law, of each institution of higher education in that state at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation, or is a student.
In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, information regarding registered sex offenders who are subject to community notification may be obtained from a community member's respective local municipal police agency and/or the Pennsylvania State Police. This information can also be obtained by visiting the Pennsylvania Megan's Law Website.
