What YOU CAN DO to help!
  • Use a coffee mug instead of using & throwing away paper cups.
  • Use a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) instead of an incandescent light bulb--they use 1/4 of the electricity and last four times as long!
  • Turn down your heat instead of opening the windows.  Optimal heat settings are between 65°F and 68°F.
  • Recycle glass bottles, aluminum cans, paper, catalogues, and junk mail.
  • Turn off TVs and radios when you're not using them.
  • Turn off the lights when you leave your room.
  • Unplug appliances when you're not using them.  Just having them plugged in uses electricity and wastes energy.
  • Save water--turn off the tap when you brush your teeth.
  • Use rechargeable batteries (this also saves you $$$).
  • Use plates and cups that can be washed instead of paper plates and cups that are thrown away.
  • Wash economically--use the washing machine and dish washer only when you have a full load.
