Service Clubs
buildOn is a part of a larger organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. The Moravian buildOn club organizes fundraising events to support the construction of a school in a developing country as well as organizes service activities related to education in the local community. Campus Community Connection (C3) is a co-educational student led club that plans and executes regular service activities on campus and in the community. Examples include: hosting a holiday party for Big Brothers and Sisters, assisting with fundraising events for Muscular Dystrophy, Camelot for Children, participating in Boo at the Zoo, hosting a bingo night at Allentown State Hospital, and assisting with a campus blood drive. Gamma Sigma Sigma is a chapter of a national service organization. The members of Gamma Sigma Sigma hold regular service activities on campus and in the local community. Activities vary with interests of the members and the needs of the community. If you are interested in participating, contact Jasmine Thomas, club president.
Habitat for Humanity - Moravian's own chapter of the international organization! Founded in the fall of 2004, students participate in local builds in the Lehigh Valley, hold a Homecoming Build in the fall, and participate in a service trip during spring break. The club is open to any student interested in volunteering to make a difference in affordable housing. Contact the Andrew Benson, Habitat for Humanity president, for more information.
