The Rau-Hassler complex was originally constructed in 1960 and renovated with updated systems and furniture in 1994. The complex consists of two separate buildings adjoined by a large connecting common lounge, entryway and vending area. Rau-Hassler is home to 132 students in a generally even mix of first year and upper-class students.

Rau-Hassler is co-ed by floor, arranged in a traditional central-hallway style configuration. All members of the floor share the common hallway and bathroom. Each floor is home to 18 students and 1 undergraduate Resident Assistant . The entire complex is administered by the Coordinator of Student Life, a professional member of the central office Student Affairs Staff. The residence hall staff provides numerous opportunities for involvement in campus life and are available to assist students with all aspects of residence hall living.

Individual rooms sleep two students and are 10’8” wide by 14’4´deep. Each room comes completely furnished and is carpeted and air conditioned. Every room is assigned a discreet phone line that provides local access and a pass-code for long-distance calls can be obtained from the Bursar’s Office (students must provide a phone for the room). The College supplies basic cable TV service to each student room.

Each student has direct access to the college computer network for data storage and internet connection (there are two data ports in the room). Specific information regarding the campus network, computing resources and recommended system requirements can be found on the MC CIT Website.

Rau-Hassler has a number of other student resources located with in the building. In the basement lounge, there is bicycle storage and a ping-pong table that gets a lot of use. Also, WRMC, Moravian College’s student-run intranet radio station, used to broadcast from the basement of Rau-Hassler. WRMC now broadcasts from the Pavilion of the HUB, and is but one example of the many and varied opportunities available to students to get involved in campus life. Finally, the front of the complex faces the Quad (above right) and is a good place to hang out and enjoy the outdoors.
