In 1994, under the coordination of Stacey B. Zaremba and
with the active involvement of Mary Faith Carson, Joyce Dougherty, Sandy Fluck, Janet
Loengard, Joanne Dangelmajer, Rosalind Remer,
Bettie Smolansky, and Gabby Yates, a minor in Women's Studies
was approved.
The Womens Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that
focuses on the lives and experiences of women. This minor will provide students with an
opportunity to learn about the psychological,
social, economic, artistic, historical and political breadth of womens
experiences. A curriculum that includes women's experiences gives students access to
new information that enables them to develop
more accurate perspectives about themselves and the world. Special attention will be
given to the diversity of womens lives and the intricate connections between race,
class, sexual preference and gender in culture and society.
