| James Buchanan Elementary School: My first field experience was at James Buchanan Elementary School, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I was placed in Mrs. Millheim’s fifth grade classroom and was given the opportunity to work with lower level students. This being my first field experience I was eager to get involved and was thrilled that Mrs. Millheim provided me with the opportunity to work hands-on with the students. I assisted her in checking class work for completeness, grading homework, aiding students as needed through answering questions, conducting my own spelling test, and leading guided reading groups. | ![]() |

I mainly worked in the School-Age classroom, which includes children from kindergarten through fifth grade, but also had the opportunity to work in other classrooms throughout the building. It was my responsibility to prepare daily activities for the children to partake in, from lesson plans to craft projects, and more. | ![]() |
