Hello, my name is Mrs. Sayre. I have four
beautiful children, Miranda, Kayla, Alden and Savanna. I love
spending time with them. We like to go to the pool and Dorney Park
in the summer. I received my Bachelor's Degree in English from
Moravian in 2005. I am going back to school for my teaching
certificate for English secondary education and ESL. I decided I
wanted to teach ESL beacause my five-year-old daughter has a boy
in her preschool class who is Chinese and speaks little to no
English, and I see the challenges her teacher faces in trying to
teach him. He often speaks to her in Chinese and she has no idea
what he is saying. I would like to bridge that gap, so all
students have a chance to learn.
I have not done any field experience work yet
because I just started back in the program, but I have helped out
in many of my children's classrooms and within our district, and
chaperoned many field trips. Looking forward to chaperoning the
New York trip in May!
Before that, I worked as associate editor for
The Catasauqua Press, Whitehall-Coplay Press, and Northampton
Press. I also did lots of reporting and photography, which took me
into the area schools, so I got to spend a lot of time with
children.
I also like helping my friend Kelly raise money
for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. Kelly
had a little boy who passed away from cancer. I have been helping
her raise money. I organized a bingo for the cause, and
participated in the walk every March.
