Mr. Blouse's Personal Page
"I am indebted to my father for living, but
to my teacher for living well."
- Alexander the Great
Hello. My name is Michael Blouse
and I grew up in the rural South Central Pennsylvania borough of Felton
(pop. 415). I graduated from Red Lion High School in 1993 and
Shippensburg University in 1997. I played baseball and took part in
various extracurricular activities throughout high school and college.
In my first pro
fessional life, I was a sports
writer at The Express-Times in Easton,
Pa., for 12 years. It was a wonderful job, especially for someone who
is passionate about
sports, writing and people. I met many great people, covered a lot
of sporting events in and around the Lehigh Valley, and made countless
memories. But at some point I realized that I
wanted an exciting new challenge. Throughout my career in the
communications field, I made numerous trips to area elementary and
schools to speak about my job and writing/reporting skills. It was
during those visits that I realized what I
wanted for my second career.
While it was anything but an easy choice, I decided in the summer of
2010 to again become a
full-time student and enrolled in the elementary education program here
at Moravian College.
Less than a
year later, I'm on track to earn my teaching certification
in December 2011.
My hobbies include playing and watching sports, spending time with
family and friends, and working part-time as a freelance sports writer
for the Morning Call of Allentown, Pa. I also enjoy reading a good book
and taking walks.
Thanks for visiting my website.
