Learn More About Me!

My name is Stephanie Cangelosi, and I am a sophomore at Moravian College. I major in Psychology and Elementary Education. It takes up much of my time, but it is my passion to learn. My dream is to become an elementary grade school teacher because I want to help educate the future of America.

I have lived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania my entire life, and one day I hope to teach in the Bethlehem Area School District. However, I never attended any BASD schools. I spent my entire education in parochial school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School and Notre Dame of Green Pond High School. I have a twin sister, Christina, who attends Muhlenberg College. She is studying Communications and hopes to be an event planner some day.

On campus I am involved in Zeta Tau Alpha, in which I hold the office of recording secretary My main responsibility is to take notes during our chapter meetings and write up the minutes to send to all of the girls. However, I am also in charge of making sure that everything is in order with our chapter so that I can properly apply all of our new girls for initiation.

Besides ZTA I am involved with the Association of Peer Educators (APE), which is responsible for teaching the campus community how to stay safe on campus, yet still have fun. Also, I am involved with The Learning Connection (TLC) mentoring program. I mentor a young girl from one of the area's local public schools once a week. I usually help her with some type of homework that she needs help with. Over the course of this past year we have established a good friendship, and we look forward to our meeting every week.

I also have a work-study job at Phonathon. I call alumni and parents of current students to ask them to give a monetary gift to the school. All proceeds help to bridge the gap between the cost of tuition and the actual cost that is required to run the school. Working at Phonathon has been extremely fulfilling because I have been able to talk to many alumni who have given me wonderful advice for the future.

As you can see I keep myself very busy during the school year. The summer is the time for me to relax and have fun. This summer I plan to work at the Bethlehem YMCA in one of the child care programs that they have for the summer. I love working with kids because I find it very rewarding.
