Miss Dalrymple's Educational Experiences

I discovered my love for teaching long before I was presented with the opportunity to partake in field experiences through Moravian College. The summer before my senior year of high school, I was afforded the opportThe State Theatre of Eastonunity to take on the role of ďMusic InternĒ at The State Theatre of Eastonís Summer Acting Camp. My role required that I assist in teaching music to students ranging from first to twelfth grade. It was the first time that I was ever truly able to teach and the experience sparked my love of education others.

Fountain Hill Elementary School

My first official field experience through Moravian College was in a kindergarten classroom at Fountain Hill Elementary School under the instruction of Mr. Jeremy Ginsberg. My placement at Fountain Hill was an excellent learning experience for me because it helped me to realize that my true calling would not be answered in the elementary classroom, but rather in the secondary classroom. During my time at Fountain Hill I also learned a great deal about student learning via social interaction; something that has greatly influenced my teaching style.

I have had two secondary education field placements; both of which been at Liberty High School. For one of my field experiences, I assisted in a learning services history classroom as well as a fully inclusive, co-tLiberty High Schoolaught history class. For me this experience was eye opening. I very much enjoyed being able to help these students with their struggles and share in their successes.

My second field placement at Liberty High School was for my pre-student teaching. I was placed in an honors freshman English classroom, taught by a Moravian alumnus, Mrs. Ali Tannous. For me, this field placement was ideal. Never before had I felt so at home in a classroom. During my pre-student teaching I was, for the first time, given the opportunity to design and implement my own unit plan. As a theatre buff, I was ecstatic to be given the chance to teach Tennessee Williamsís The Glass Menagerie. I will forever, fondly, remember my experience as a pre-student teacher to Mrs. Tannousís freshman honors English class.
