Miss Dalrymple's Educational Experiences
I discovered my love for teaching long before I was presented with the opportunity to partake in field experiences through Moravian College. The summer before my senior year of high school, I was afforded the opportunity to take on the role of ďMusic InternĒ at The State Theatre of Eastonís Summer Acting Camp. My role required that I assist in teaching music to students ranging from first to twelfth grade. It was the first time that I was ever truly able to teach and the experience sparked my love of education others.
I have had two secondary education field placements; both of which been at Liberty High School. For one of my field experiences, I assisted in a learning services history classroom as well as a fully inclusive, co-taught history class. For me this experience was eye opening. I very much enjoyed being able to help these students with their struggles and share in their successes.
My second field placement at Liberty High School was for my pre-student teaching. I was placed in an honors freshman English classroom, taught by a Moravian alumnus, Mrs. Ali Tannous. For me, this field placement was ideal. Never before had I felt so at home in a classroom. During my pre-student teaching I was, for the first time, given the opportunity to design and implement my own unit plan. As a theatre buff, I was ecstatic to be given the chance to teach Tennessee Williamsís The Glass Menagerie. I will forever, fondly, remember my experience as a pre-student teacher to Mrs. Tannousís freshman honors English class.
