ABOUT
ME
My name is Caity Dean, and I am
currently a junior at Moravian College
in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I am from Hamburg, New Jersey, a small town
in Sussex County and graduated from Wallkill Valley Regional High
School in 2008. In high school, I was a member of the varsity
cheerleading squad and served as the team manager for the men's soccer
and track and field teams. I was also involved in National Honors
Society, Spanish National Honors Society, kindness & Justice, SADD,
and Model U.N.

At Moravian, I am individually designing a major in Performing Arts
Outreach. This self-design major takes fundamental components of
education, English, and communications and combines them with dance and
theatre. In addition to this, I am pursuing certification in English
and secondary education. With this major, I was able to present and
perform in Moravian College's Sixth Annual Student Scholarship and
Creative Arts Day. On campus, I am involved in the dance company,
of which I have been a full company member for three years and
choreographed for the annual concert for two years. I am also a member
of the theatre company where I served as choreographer for the 2011
Student Cabaret and performed in the 2010 Student Cabaret. I have been
a resident advisor for the last two years in upper-class housing and am
actively involved in my sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, where I served as
the co-philanthropy chair for the 2010 calendar year and the ritual
chair currently. I serve as a 26 Points ambassador where I give campus
tours, work in the admissions office, and serve on student panels as
necessary.

Off campus, I have worked with numerous local theatre companies. I
assisted with the Young Playwright's Lab, an eight-week program that
helped middle school students develop and write their own plays, with
Touchstone Theater in Bethlehem and volunteered with public relations
and advertising with Rainbow Players Theater Company in Allentown. I
served as a drama department intern from 2009-2010 with Pennsylvania
Youth Theatre and have been serving as the Glee club instructor for the
last year teaching choreography to PYT's two Glee clubs and working
with a musical
director. I will be continuing
work with PYT this
summer,
as I will be choreographing "The Lion King" for one of the summer
camps. I will also be serving as the arts and crafts teacher and
costume and set designer with Kids In The Park and Teens in the Park, a
three session theatre program for kids and teens that allows them to
assist with set and costume design, learn songs and choreography, and
perform a play in a two week period.
I have been dancing for 19 years, 16 of which I have danced
competitively. I love this art, and have always wanted to incorporate
it into my teaching. I hope to use it in many different ways with
students, wither through a dance team or choreographing the school
musical. I am trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical,
modern/contemporary, pointe, hip-hop, and musical theatre dance.
