My Educationl Experiences
Field Experiences
Fountain Hill
Elementary School: My first field experience at
Moravian College was at Fountain Hill Elementary School in the
Behtlehem Area School District. I was place in Miss Hernandez's second
grade class. Seeking certification in Secondary Education, I was
apprehensive about working with such young students. However, after
just one day in the field I loved everything about the class. I was
able to assist with centers and collecting work, and Miss Hernandez
allowed me to teach two mini-lessons during my time there. I was
greatful for the opportunity to work with younger students and to work
through my own lesson.
Northeast Middle School
Also in the Bethlehem Area School District, I was placed in Northeast
Middle School for my second field experience. I had the chance to work
with Ms. Arena in eighth grade special education. This was a unique
experience because I had the opportunity to work closely with students
with learning disabilities or delays while also experiencing numerous
subject areas in middle school. I assisted with administering tests and
provided in class support to science, math, history, and language arts
classrooms.

South Mountain Middle School:
My final field experience was at South Mountain Middle School in the
AllentownSchool Distsrict. I worked with Miss Boyer in seventh grade
ESL and ELL math. This was a brand new experience to me. I had never
had a lot of interaction with Enlgish Language Learners, and I was able
to teach two lessons, help with grading, and work individually with ESL
and ELL students to keep them up-to-date with what they were learning
in class.
Other Experiences with Children

Pennsylvania Youth Theatre: I
am currently employed at Pennsylvania Youth Theatre in Bethlehem, PA as
the Glee Club instructor. I began at PYT in October of 2009 as a drama
division intern. In this position, I helped the drama teachers with
numerous acting and movement classes. At the end of the 2009-2010 year,
I was asked to come on as the dance instructor for the first year of
PYT's Glee Club for 2010-2011. I worked closely with a music director
who also serves as a music teacher in the Allentown School District.
Together, we chose songs for the children to sing and taught them
dances. They performed at numerous voice concerts, PYT's spring show,
and at a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs baseball game. I will be continuing
work with PYT in June, as I will be choreographing "The Lion King"
during a one-week summer camp.
Touchstone Theater: In the
spring of 2010, I worked with Touchstone Theater in Bethlehem, PA to
assist with the Young Playwright's Lab. This eight-week program was
based out of Saucon Valley Middle School. I went to the school twice a
week with a teacher at Touchstone, and we helped the students create,
develop, and ultimately write their own plays.

Kids in the Park & Teens in the
Park: For the summer of 2011, I will be serving as the arts and
crafts teacher for both Kids in the Park and Teens in the Park in
Woodbridge, NJ. In this position, I will be creating sets and costumes
for children, who in a two-week period, learn music, lines, assist with
building the set, and put on a performance. There are three different
sessions spanning over a six-week period.
