Educational Experiences

Moravian Academy Middle School

My first early field experience at Moravian College was at Moravian Academy Middle School in Bethlehem, PA. I spent around fourty hours in Mr. Chandler's seventh grade mathematics class at Moravian Academy. There were approximatly 15 to 20 students in each of the classes I worked with at Moravian Academy. I also got to observe and assist teachering a course for students involved in the MATHCOUNTS program. MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement thoughout the United States. In this class there where students who were in grades six through eight. MATHCOUNTS is a great program and also a program that I would like to someday have my students be involved in. During my field placement I was able to work with students one on one as well as teaching a lesson to the class as a whole. I took a lot of knowledge and experience away from my time in Mr. Chander's classroom. My first field placement was a great learning experience and helped me gain some of the tools an educator needs that can only be learned through experience.

Pop Warner Cheerleading Jr. Coach
I coached the Florence Township Pop Warner cheerleading team for five years. I have recently had to stop coaching because I am away at college but I plan on coaching again as soon as possible. I coached girls between the ages of five and seven for two years and girls between the ages of eleven and thirteen for three years. Coaching was much more to me then teaching the girls how to cheer. I became a role model to them and that was a job that I took very seriously. I learned just as much from the girls I coached as they learned from me. My team won the regional championship my fourth year of coaching and I will never forget the amazing feeling I had knowing that I had helped them succeed. My time spent coaching cheerleading is what lead me to persue a career in the field of education.
