My name is Heather Geiger and I am currently a Senior at Moravian College.  I will graduate in May 2012 with a degree in Sociology and a concentration in Elementary Education (K-6).  I graduated from Easton Area High School in 2002 and began furthering my education in 2007.  I am a mother of two children, so I have a lot of experience with children that includes learning, teaching, disciplining and most importantly nurturing. 

My experiences with Moravian College have been in a fifth grade classroom as well as a Learning Support classroom within the Bethlehem Area School District.  The experiences have taught me the importance of being organized, confident and prepared for all situations in a classroom.  It has proven that not one way of teaching will be effective for all of the students, so teachers must be flexible and versatile.

Teaching has always been my passion since the rewards are enormous.  The gift of learning is something that lasts a lifetime.  It is essential to find the balance between classroom management and a comfortable atmosphere to ensure all of your students are performing to their maximum ability.  Environment plays a huge role in a child's ability to learn, so ensuring comfort is one of the first things that a teacher should focus on.  Teachers must also remember that they too are learning every day in the classroom, often times the students teach us about ourselves just as we teach them to develop themselves.
