Hello! My name is Ashley Kametz and I am a senior at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I major in Art History & Criticism and Elementary Education.  After graduation in the spring of 2011, I hope to teach in the elementary school classroom. I am very passionate about teaching and learning, and would love to share my enthusiasm with my students.

At Moravian College, I am a Comenius Scholar and Emerging Leader. I have also been a Student Advisor, which allowed me to explore teaching and communicating efficiently with post-secondary students. I am an active member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, which I absolutely love. I participated in LeaderShape in 2008, where I successfully gained an understanding of myself, my passions, and what it takes to lead with integrity. I have also participated in The Learning Connection program, where I mentored an elementary school student for two years. I have been a member of the Environmental Coalition, Habitat for Humanity, as well as the Student Alumni Association.

When I'm not keeping busy on campus, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Natalie.  I love teaching her new things and watching her grow.  In addition to teaching, I am very passionate about art.  I have always loved trying new methods of art, and have dipped my toes into many diverse means of artistic expression ranging from bookmaking and knitting to pottery and pastels.  I love drawing, painting, and photography the most.  Though I love exploring visual arts, I also enjoy music and frequently play the djembe drum, my most prized possession.

I also adore traveling.  I have been fortunate to travel to many places throughout my life, including France, Italy, Spain, England, Malta, and Monaco.  I find it exhilarating to be immersed in customs different from our own, and find that the only way to truly appreciate and understand the complexities and diversities of cultures is to experience them firsthand.
