Since I was little, I have always wanted to be a teacher...
I was born
and raised in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. Lehighton is on the fringe
of the Poconos next to Jim Thorpe. I live with my mom and two
siblings, Avery and Tucker. We share our house
with my Goldendoodle, Emilee, and three cats, Perry, Lola, and
Sophie.
I graduated
with honors from Jim Thorpe High School in Jim Thorpe,
Pennsylvania. During high school, I participated in soccer,
National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society.
After
graduating in 2008, I attended Lehigh Carbon Community College. At
LCCC, I had the opportunity to internship for the S.H.I.N.E.
program. At the S.H.I.N.E. program, I worked in the Shenandoah
Valley School District in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. I assisted in
the teaching of an after school program with at-risk students in
grades 1 through 4. Along with teaching, I also spoke/read/wrote fluent
Spanish which enabled me to speak with parents and students who
speak Spanish. I realized at the S.H.I.N.E. program that I wanted
to teach elementary school children.
In
2009, I began my educational career at Moravian College. I elected
to pursue a Political Science Degree along with my Elementary
Education certification. With my
political science degree, I would like to influence education policy
and start my own program similar to S.H.I.N.E.
