Talk on War and Peace
by Psychiatrist Sandy Bloom

8 pm, April 16th 2002, in Prosser, Moravian College

PHOTOS OF THE EVENT

"In an era seized by the glorification of war, concepts of peace may be associated with weakness, a lack of realism, even a dangerous naiveté. But what if we view peace as the healthy norm and violence as the inevitable byproduct of human interaction? Such a framework may provide us with a more interesting way of viewing the problem of violence and open up a different discourse about how to address violence in our homes, our institutions, and our society."

As of June 2000, she had published one book Creating Sanctuary: Toward the Evolution of Sane Societies (1997), co-authored another, and edited still another that is forthcoming (Violence: A Public Health Epidemic and a Public Health Approach; additionally, she has written ten chapters in books and 37 articles.

Refreshments will be available just outside Prosser before and after Dr. Bloom's address and question-and-answer session.

Sponsored by Amnesty International and Psi Chi
