Striving

ISBN # Disclosure

Motivated by an amendment made to
the Higher Education Opportunity Act and a survey in which 600 students responded favorably to having access to textbook information, USG began to discuss the possibility of releasing ISBN numbers to students prior to the start of the semester.

After conducting extensive research, which included studying student attitudes/purchasing behavior, becoming familiar with policies of the Bookstore, and the practices of peer/LOCAL schools, Student Body President Koenig, Vice President Teodosio, Senate Speaker Kirk, and Academic Affairs Committee Chair Krauss meet with the Administration.

With countless hours of hard work and preservation, in addition to the leadership of Student Body President President Koenig, "USG's Online Textbook Resource," was developed. This fully-automated system allowed students to locate required course materials and compare costs with vendors such as Half.com, Ebay, and Amazon to find the best price.

Over 85 members of the faculty participated in providing the ISBN numbers for their courses and an estimated 1,000 students used the website, saving both time and money as a result. The goal is to use this temporary system again for the Spring semester.
