Educational Experiences
Hey! I learned there is more to being a teacher than teaching! My "Early Field Experience" in Mrs. Blatnik's second grade class at James Buchanan Elementary was a real "eye opener".

Not only is a teacher responsible for the curriculum, but a teacher is responsible for the social, emotional and physical well being of their students!

A good teacher not only teaches math and language arts, but can also triage and assess a students injury or illness, console a student in emotional distress and enlighten students on matters of personal hygiene, manners and etiquette!

Legislation dictates that a teacher be "highly qualified" pedagogically, but says nothing about being "highly qualified" in life. As an upperclassman in the "School of Life", I have found that my life experiences are invaluable!

I possess the knowledge, insight, wisdom, patience and common sense, that allow me to be an outstanding and effective teacher.

The Moravian College Education Department endorses the "Constructivist" teaching style. This pedagogical technique complements my personal ideals, values and belief systems.

My most recent teaching experiences are listed below. The lessons were hands-on, experiential lessons in science. One of my favorite subjects!

  • William Penn Elementary School - First Grade - Lesson on "Animal Senses"
  • St. Ann's Elementary School - First and Sixth Grades - Lesson on "Light and Color"
  • SS. Simon and Jude - Sixth, Seventh & Eighth Grades - Lesson on "The Laws of Motion"
  • Moravian Academy - Fourth Grade - Lesson on "Electricity"

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching at each of these institutions! The lessons were well received and appreciated by all of the students and teachers!

I am grateful to Moravian College for giving me the opportunity to teach in public, private and parochial schools. The field experience component of the Moravian Teacher Certification Program is second to none! Moravian teachers are firmly grounded pedagogically with a healthy infusion of reality.
