Fountain Hill Elementary School

My first field experience at Moravian College
took place at Fountain Hill Elementary School on the south side of
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I was placed in a second grade classroom where
I was given the privelege to work with a handful of young students.
While at Fountain Hill, I was not only given the opportunity to provide
assistance to my students on a one-on-one basis, but also in large
groups. I helped my students develop reading comprehension skills, math
skills, and creative thinking skills.
Northeast Middle School

My
second field experience took place at Northeast Middle School in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While at Northeast, I was placed in an eight
grade special education classroom. All of the students in the classroom
that I worked in were learning disabled and had I.E.P.'s (Invidiualized
Education Plan) that granted them accommodations. I provided the
students with the one-on-one attention that they needed and was given
the opportunity to teach a lesson on my own. While I was at Northeast,
I also helped the students take the PSSA's (Pennsylvania System of
School Assessment). I was responsible for reading and re-wording the
test questions in ways that helped the students overcome their specific
disabilities.
Nitschmann Middle School

My
third and most recent field experience took place at Nitschmann Middle
School, also in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I was placed in a very
well-taught 7th grade classroom where I was given the priveledge of
working with 3 girls with various learning disabilties. While the class
worked on an assignment, I pulled my students aside to help them move
along at their own pace.
