About Me
| “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”―Charles William Eliot |
One of
my favorite things to do is read. In the
summer, you will fin
d me
sitting on the deck in the backyard of our house,
dogs at my feet, under the umbrella, reading. The past
few years, our yearly vacation has been to the
Outer Banks in North Carolina; the perfect
vacation: the
beach, a chair, and a bag of books! In the
winter, same scenario, expect I move inside. My other
joy is
gardening; I
love flowers.
When we moved to our home, it was new; no
flowers, no daffodils, and no tulips, something I
look for every spring. The
following spring, I tilled every inch of soil, and
planted bulbs and flowers that would come back
every year; one of the great joys in life,
flowers.
I am
married to John and am
the mother of three children;
Bridgid is 25 years
old and works as a Speech Therapist in the
Philadelphia area, a proud graduate of Penn State;
Annelise is 17 and a junior in High School, and
Andrew is 15 and a sophomore in high school.
My 17 year old daughter
and I are great fans of the New York Giants. I tell
people I have created a monster; Annelise is a
very passionate defender of all things New York
Giants, especially Eli Manning. We
have gone to a few games together, and never
fail to have a fabulous, raucous time.
After 24 years of working for a Fortune 500
Company, I was laid off, as were a lot of my
co-workers. Initially,
it was a shock.
However, when one door closes, another
opens; that has led me to where I stand today.
Twenty five years ago, my mother told me that I
should have gotten my first degree in Education to
teach English, as I was someone who always loved
to read and write.
I should have listened to my mother, of
which I have gladly told her this over the course
of the last year; she keeps telling me, better
late than never!
This new path in life has brought me to
Moravian College, to gain a Teacher Certificate in
English Education, Grades 7-12. So far
it’s been a pleasure. I did
not appreciate the absolute thirst I have for
learning when I was an undergrad.
I
am looking forward to, hopefully, finding a
teaching job and closing out my working career
doing something that I absolutely love – teaching
my students to enjoy and absorb reading and
literature as much as I do.
