South Campus Pleasure Gardens

When ownership of the Brethren’s House was transferred to the Moravian Female Seminary in 1815, the six acres behind the House were laid out as a park, adorned with acacia trees, fountains, and a summer house.  In 1992 a statue of Countess Benigna von Zinzendorf, the young woman credited with founding Moravian in 1742, was erected in the former pleasure gardens.
