Physics majors may choose between two degree tracks, one leading to a B.A. and the other leading to the B.S. Students seeking the B.A. will ultimately take 11 courses in the major: 4 in mathematics and 7 in physics. Those pursuing the B.S. will take 15 courses: 5 in mathematics and 10 in physics.
take MATH170 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus I) in the fall and MATH171 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus II) in the spring.
take both semesters of Introductory Physics (PHYS111 in the fall and PHYS112 in the spring).
[Note that PHYS111 and PHYS112 each consist of three components: lecture, laboratory, and problem session (e.g. PHYS111, PHYS111L, and PHYS111PS). Be sure to register for all three in each semester!]
[Note also that PHYS109 and PHYS110 (Introductory Physics for the Life Sciences) do not count toward the Physics major.]
