The major in Geology is a joint program with Lehigh University. Although you need Introductory Physics (PHYS111–112) to major in Geology, the department recommends taking that sophomore year, as many higher-level geology courses depend more on chemistry than physics.
take MATH170 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus I) in the fall and MATH171 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus II) in the spring.
take EASC110 (Introductory Geology) in the spring.
take both semesters of General Chemistry (CHEM113 in the fall and CHEM114 in the spring).
[Note that CHEM113 and CHEM114 each consist of three components: lecture, laboratory, and problem session (e.g. CHEM113, CHEM113L, and CHEM113PS). Be sure to register for all three in each semester!]
Prof. Gerencher has posted more information about this major.
