Interference Colors

TITLE
Interference Colors in Stressed Plastic

To create this photograph, a piece of  Plexiglas was squeezed with a pair of pliers while being illuminated by plain polarized light.  A second polarizing filter, oriented perpendicular to the first, was placed between the stressed Plexiglas and the camera.  The interference pattern produced was small, so extension tubes were used to achieve the needed magnification. It was photographed on ASA 3200 color film.
